Healthy Beetroot Halwa Recipe

Beetroot is a root vegetable also known as red beet, table beet, garden beet, or just beet. Packed with essential nutrients, beetroots are a great source of fiber, folate (vitamin B9), manganese, potassium, iron, and vitamin C. Beetroots and beetroot juice have been associated with numerous health benefits, including improved blood flow, lower blood pressure, and increased exercise performance.


Ingredients

1 kg beetroot

1 1/2 litre milk

400-500 gm sugar/Jaggery

Elaichi powder (cardamom)

Saffron few flakes

1 tbsp ghee

Method

  1. Peel and grate beetroot
  2. Put milk and dudhi in a heavy saucepan. Boil till thick, stirring occasionally. Once it starts thickening, stir continuously. 
  3. Add sugar/jaggery and cook further till thickens. Add ghee, elaichi, saffron and colour. Stir on low heat till the mixture collects in a soft ball or the ghee oozes out. 
  4. Serve hot, decorated with a chopped almond or pista.
