The New Fitness Mantra
I am picking a topic which everybody knows that it is important but still everybody ignores and reacts when it's too late. And the topic is "Fitness".
Disclaimer: I am not a doctor, nutritionist, Fitness or a gym instructor. This write-up is purely based on my experience and whatever I have observed in my surrounding. It is just my opinion. It may or may not apply to everybody.
I would like to dedicate this blog to all the mothers who work all day to serve their family. The schedule generally includes preparing three meals a day, cleaning, getting kids ready for school, packing tiffin boxes, ironing clothes, handling office work, attending meetings, picking up kids from school/daycare, dropping kids to tuition, spending quality time with kids and other miscellaneous work. Despite having housemaid, we will have to manage many other household activities on our own. We really must do multitasking to manage everything efficiently. I wonder how mothers from our previous generation used to manage housework and kids. A big hats off to all of them. We will realise the level of effort that they used to put to serve their family only when we get into their shoes.

If we analyse the lifestyle of our previous generation women (Like our Moms :) ), They used to strictly follow the same routine every day. They used to first clean the corridor and put rangoli, do all the housework and pooja which will go on till 12 PM in the afternoon. They used to end up having their breakfast in the afternoon without realizing that their health will go for toss gradually. Usually what they think is that they will start exercising once they get old or retired. They will start going for walks once they reach their 50s. By then they would have spoiled their health.
Most of the women think that by doing housework they will be fit. Few household works are definitely beneficial but few are stressful. So thinking that housework is equal to doing exercise or workout is a myth.
We should always start our day with healthy breakfast and it is a good practice to have it before 9 AM. So that rest of the routine will not get affected. But in reality, we will end up having breakfast after 10 AM, lunch after 2 PM and dinner after 10 PM. There should be at least 2 hours of gap after dinner before we sleep. But in general, most of us will sleep immediately or within one hour gap after having our dinner. This is definitely not a good practice.
I strongly insist that we should include exercise, gym, yoga and walking in our daily routine. Most of us do not wish to make time for all these activities. We always tend to rest whenever we get time after doing household activities. It is human tendency to do so. I am sure we can dedicate 30-40 minutes of our time to care for our own body and health. Trust me, this is the only thing we will do for ourselves. If we do not care for ourselves, we will gradually become sensitive and immunity will go for a toss. If we fall sick we will not able to do anything. This will, in turn, lead to a lot of stress in our life.
Even men tend to ignore their fitness, especially who are in IT. Now that almost everybody is working from home, they have become lazier. They spend most of time with their electronic devices such as a computer, PS4 and mobile etc., Most of the married men do not include exercise in their daily routine. Despite having a lot of time a few of them do not spend time with their family and kids as it requires a lot of energy :). Staring at mobile or laptop does not need energy and instantly entertains them.
It is better to maintain our health from the beginning instead of waiting to get old and retire. I often see that senior citizens strength is more than youngsters in the park.
I would urge each one of you to keep up their mental and physical health before it is too late.
Stay fit! Stay safe!
See you in my next write-up.
